With a 45 minute drive the crew was better rested upon arrival at the famed Mosport circuit in beautiful southern Ontario. In the middle of one of Ontario’s heat waves the weekend got off to a great start on Thursday with hot and humid weather. Jodi was soon up to speed on the Durham Honda/BluestreakRacing Honda CBR600RR. The crew consisting of John Sharrard and Jim Brooks came prepared with bikes and suspension in top form.

Friday dawned with the day no one really needed as track time is valuable and the heavy rains had most riders sitting the sessions out. These days at the track are sometimes welcomed by some of the crew who have been working extremely hard for months at this point, there is time to relax and talk to fellow competitors and have a day off.

The teams waited for the decision on whether Pirelli Superpole would go off as planned, at 3.00 pm it was decided it would and we proceeded to ready ourselves for our 8th spot on the grid. The bikes went out for a 15 minute practice, after returning to the pits Jodi informed us that  traction was poor at all sections of the track. While waiting for the start it began to rain in the back section and Superpole was cancelled, the grid was set from Thursdays times leaving Jodi with a 3rd row start. The team had hoped to improve its grid position during Superpole.

Saturday bought the day we had been waiting for and practice went well.
Lining up for the Sport Bike race Jodi got a poor start and had a fair bit of ground to make up. He ran wide on the exit of high speed corner one on the 3rd lap and ran through the grass to the top of the hill at corner 2, he was gapped by a few seconds at that point and was never able to fully recover, he crossed the line in second place.

Parts Canada Superbike was up next on the schedule with Jodi getting a great launch into the first turn, he was able to stay with some of the bigger bikes on his CBR600RR thanks to the Fast Company motor built by Scott Miller. “The bike was strong everywhere” stated Jodi, “My drive out of the corners allowed me to stay with the bigger bikes in the draft” He went on to finish a credible 6th place with a broken shifter, no small feat on a 600 at Mosport where the big bikes are making upwards of 190hp.

Sunday morning Jodi did his traditional few laps just to shake the bikes down then headed back to talk with fans and rest up for the afternoon action
Sport Bike was up first with Jodi hoping to improve on his round 5 finish. It was a great race with Jodi leading most of the laps across the finish line, once again the Fast Company motor showed its strength down the back straightaway and driving out of the high speed corners. On the last lap Jodi had the lead coming through corner 8 and into 9 when an incident with another competitor sent him hurtling into the air fence head first. Picking himself and his Honda up he came out of the air fence to the cheers of the crowd, bruised but determined and managed to cross the line in 3rd position, not the finish that was expected but once again a fantastic effort.

During the interval between races the team worked hard to put the bike back together to prepare for the afternoon Superbike race. Jodi was back to the pits to ice his injuries and try and recover from the crash.

He did well to spring back and got off to another good start in the Parts Canada Superbike feature, he was in a battle for the first few laps then settled into 7th place where he eventually crossed the line. “It was a good weekend overall, as a team we have to be happy, we were looking for our first Sport Bike win and although we were close it didn’t happen” stated Jodi, “In Superbike we did well and have managed to keep ourselves 4th in the points heading to Shubenacadie, I have to thank the team for all their hard work and Honda Canada for the tremendous support on and off the track”

“I have to thank all  the members of the team, there is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes that goes unseen, also our sponsors, Scott Miller for building me two great motors, the Hindle pipes for helping to increase that power, Tony Blue from BlueStreak has been a great help delivering parts on Thursday and Sunday morning, Pat Milligan of Forensi-Tech, thanks to John Bickle from Bickle Racing for the leather work and great warmers,  Performance Under Gear certainly worked just as hard. The Arai Helmets and Dainese Leathers from Riders Choice continue to protect even while going head first into the air fence. A visit from sponsor Billy Solmes from Armour Bodies was nice, and Dave Buckland I am afraid will have more of his great work to perform, the Elka Suspension once again worked well with the Pirelli Tires from Orion Motorsports and keeps the Honda glued to the pavement. OPP Racing was also on hand for the weekend and they were able to solve our broken shifter issues on the Litech rearsets, the HM shifters are working perfect, thanks also to Colin of MadFab for his specialty products. Gord at Podium Grafix did a great job on the trailer and it bought a lot of compliments from the fans

Thank you to Durham Honda Powerhouse and all there staff for making the effort to come out for the weekend, it was great to have you there. Thank you also to Honda Canada for all their support

Once again a great weekend for the team, and the people behind it deserve the thanks. Jim Brooks and John Sharrard never let up for the five days. (Except the Friday morning deluge)

Next up for the team is Round # 6-7 of the Parts Canada Superbike Championahip August 5-8 in Shubenacadie Nova Scotia.

Jodi would also like to send a big thank you out to the men who maintain and install the air fence at all of the National rounds
Jodi would like to thank all of his sponsors who help make this possible
