Ottawa-based Elie 'EEL' Daccache of 53-Racing attended the final RACE regional round at Shannonville Motorsports Park near Belleville.

Elie blitzed the PRO 600 field in qualifying by qualifying third after starting from the second row.

Elie went on to comment "I held nothing back.  I wanted a front row start for the final, and I got it.  I stuffed MJB in the hairpin for third place on the third lap and never looked back- and my Kawasaki was never challenged from then on.  For Sunday, with a front row start I knew I could ride with Karl and Jodi and if I could keep them in sight, and do a string of 1:06's and 1:05s in the final, I would have a podium to finish off my year."

Sadly, unpredictable September weather rolled through the area overnight and soaked the track with rain for the entire day.  In the 600 final Elie showed excellent form and determination with a 5th place finish.

"That is definitely NOT where I wanted to finish, but given the conditions that Mother Nature threw at us, this is a very satisfying result.  I am usually not a very good rain rider.  I managed two practice sessions in the morning that set the tone for the afternoon race and my lap times dropped every lap I was out.  I was able to keep Louis and Karl in sight and close on them in the later stages of the final.  I am happy with 5th as my rain riding improved a lot today."

In closing Elie says “It was a great way to end the year.  To miss a regional round because of work commitments and still finish 5th overall in the championship is a dream come true for me and my sponsors.  It is my best regional pro championship finish to date, and next year my program will be even stronger.  For now it's time rest and train for next year, I also have a duathlon to do next weekend!!"  You can see Elie compete in the Cumberland Fall Colours Duathlon October 9th at the Cumberland heritage village museum.

Thanks go out to Steve and Diane Walker, everyone at Kawasaki Canada and everyone at the Ottawa Goodtime Centre that helped Elie and his program this year. Thanks also go out to Brett for the help this weekend as well as Jim Proulx.

Elie would also like to thank the sponsors that support him - Ottawa Goodtime Centre, Hindle Exhaust, Scorpion Helmets, Kanata Collision, REV’IT, Vortex, Canadian Kawasaki Racing and Ian and Katherine.  These results are not possible without your support!
